Frequently Asked Questions

A.

Construction signs fall into a handful of categories, and this hub links to each one. Construction area signs control the perimeter and access, construction site signs are the entrance boards that list the rules, fall protection signs and hard hat signs cover PPE at height, and crane signs, scaffolding signs, and demolition signs cover specific operations. Pick the category that matches your hazard and drill in from there.

A.

Pictograms let a sign communicate instantly and across language barriers. Common ones include the hard hat symbol for required head protection, the falling-object graphic for overhead hazards, and the harness symbol for fall protection. A symbol paired with a signal word and short text is the clearest format, which is why our construction signs combine all three.

A.

Post signs at every entrance to the job site, and again at each specific hazard inside it, such as an excavation, a lift zone, or an overhead-work area. Mount them at eye level in a spot that reads before a person reaches the hazard. For an open trench, add an Open Pit No Trespassing sign, and for a marked entrance a Construction Entrance sign.

A.

A residential or neighborhood site draws foot traffic and children, so start with property protection. The most common are a Children Must Not Enter, Video Surveillance sign, a No Trespassing sign at the property line, and a Construction Entrance sign at the access point, plus hard hat and PPE signs for the crew.

A.

Yes, but they are a separate system from the on-site signs in this hub. Road-facing work zones follow the Federal MUTCD, which OSHA adopts under 1926.200(g), and those are the orange diamond road-work, detour, and flagger signs. You will find them on our road construction signs page. The signs in this hub are the OSHA and ANSI signs that mark hazards and control access inside the work site itself.

A.

Yes. Start from a custom construction sign template to add your company name, a site-specific hazard, or contractor contact information, and choose the size and material. Bilingual English and Spanish versions reach every worker on a mixed crew.
